Louisa, a passionate case worker supporting women and children, had a bold dream—to work in the humanitarian space, specifically at the United Nations. But she wasn’t sure where to start.
After discovering Mentor Walks Parramatta on LinkedIn, she joined her first walk last October. She learned a lot of practical tips from her mentor and she found exactly what she needed: the assurance of taking her next step towards her dream, which is to move to France.
At her second walk, she shared more about her plans to her mentor and group. Amazingly, a fellow mentee had a connection in France. After that walk, the mentee went out of her way to connect Louisa with her contact, who Louisa later met online. That one act helped open real doors to her dream.

“Every walk gave me more clarity and courage,” Louisa says. “If it wasn’t for Mentor Walks, I’d probably still be stuck in the same mindset. Instead, I’m moving forward with confidence.”
Louisa moved to France last July and has been living her dream since then. Four months on, she shares that life abroad has been both challenging and transformative.
“Everything has felt quite surreal,” she says. “Every experience has been a lesson in growth and confidence.”
As a frequent walker when she was in Parramatta, the advice she received from her mentors continues to guide her: “They reminded me to embrace new adventures, step outside my comfort zone, and trust the journey ahead. They reminded me that I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by trying something new.”
“Just be open. A lot can happen in one session.” Louisa beautifully said when we asked her what’s her piece of advice to other mentees.
