Local community and connection matter, and regular walks help women build meaningful relationships that extend beyond a single conversation.

Intergenerational insight adds depth and perspective, helping participants build the capability to navigate decisions, transitions and what’s next in their careers.

The Conversations Women Bring —
and What They Take Away

Here are some of the questions women in Vancouver brought to their mentor conversations.

"I'm launching V2.0 of my personal training work, in that I am expanding into developing. I am looking for insight into marketing it without spending all day on social media.

It gave me two good things to ponder in relation to the question I had asked to shape my next steps."

⎯ Rola, Vancouver mentee

"I'd like guidance/advice about where to go next with my career and what I should focus on. I have skills in data, statistics, research, evaluation, assessment, and project management. My entrepreneurial interests lie within and outside of that.

I received guidance on how to resolve my internal conflict regarding pursuing entrepreneurship vs continuing on the 9-5 pathway. I also received guidance and camaraderie about navigating opportunity costs."

"How do I break into a new industry and find my first job?

I got ideas for networking and finding work - to spend just as much time, if not more time, sending direct messages on LinkedIn rather than just waiting for job postings to come up. Also, I received encouragement and validation that I’m on the right track."

⎯ Sophia, Vancouver mentee

"I’m ready for a new challenge and would love advice on how to look for my next senior role.

It was nice to be able to talk to someone about things going through my head about my next steps. I also got clarity on whether I should specialize in my role or keep being general and change industries."

⎯ Wendy, Vancouver mentee
