The Conversations Women Bring —
and What They Take Away

Here are some of the questions women in Sydney brought to their mentor conversations.

MW-SYD-28JUL23 Group Walking CALD 2.HEIC

"I am at a career crossroads and trying to work out which direction to go next, and aligned with that is finding my next opportunity.

My mentor provided solid techniques to work through some career questions. I realized board roles might not be what I’m looking for. Need to work through a long-term strategy and then execute."

"How to productively work with different work styles?

I learned from my mentor that to be a leader, even a pseudo leader, the key focus is to check in often and provide positive feedback and reinforcement, focusing on people's gifts and uplifting them with that."

⎯ Jia, Sydney mentee

"I'm looking for my next job and I want to discuss my career goals.

Definitely opened my eyes and shifted my thinking. I got more clarity on how I need to get out of my bubble and make small steps."

"I want to move into a new sector and type of work. I am experienced with going into new sectors and thriving, but I'm older than I used to be.

I received some great practical suggestions to refine my next steps. I was reminded that I got to tell the story of what I've done to date - by this time in my career, that is many things. So draw together the ones I like best that I want to move forward with in alignment with what's next."
