Why Mentor Walks Works

Mentor Walks in Perth brings together women from different industries and career stages in a simple, intentional format.

The Conversations Women Bring —
and What They Take Away

Here are some of the questions women in Perth brought to their mentor conversations.

Walking side by side in a small group lowers formality

and creates space for more open, focused career conversations.

Local community and connection matter, and regular walks help women build meaningful relationships that extend beyond a single conversation.

"I want to know more about growth and opportunities available for me.

I was matched with Nicole Moody. Nicole was so open about her different roles and the opportunities and challenges of consultant, board, and in-house roles. Perfectly matched for me!"

"I am looking at working in a different area of finance and would like to learn about career progression and networking from other women who are happy and successful in their careers.

It was very inspiring and good to speak with a woman successful in her field. My mentor encouraged me not to be scared to go down a new career path because the work will always be there. It is okay to take risks."

PERTH LAUNCH 2019 Group Walking 1.jpg

"How to start a business and what to consider before starting?

It is great to get the perspective of someone who is already in the position of what you intend to achieve. I learned more about how I could transfer my skills into a business model on a broader scale."

⎯ Emily, Perth mentee

"How to be strategic about my career progression? What advise would be a good next role for me to move up my career?

A really great way to gain valuable career insights in an informal setting. I received advice to analyse my skill set and massage the language used to describe these to reflect the language used by employers, so they easily understand your value proposition."

⎯ Joanna, Perth mentee
