Verity is a senior executive who has led organisations and transformational change projects for more than 25 years. Currently CEO of Cancer Council ACT, Verity leads a dynamic team whose purpose is to reduce the impact of cancer in our community. Her earlier career roles include CEO at Playgroup Australia, CEO at Life Education Australia; General Manager at Lifeline Australia; Chief Merger Officer at YWCA; and Corporate Responsibility Manager at HSBC Bank Australia Ltd.
Verity is currently Deputy Chair of Canberra Glassworks. She is actively involved with community organisations including Canberra Art Biennial, as a volunteer since 2016 and Board member since 2023; a volunteer at Canberra Writers Festival 2017 - 2023; Life Member of YWCA Australia, and official delegate to the Commission on the Status of Women, United Nations, New York 2018.
Serving on the board of UN Women Australia for six years 2013 - 2019, including three as Company Secretary, Verity contributed to setting the strategic purpose in line with UN Women HQ in New York. She represented UN Women Australia at meetings with the federal government, corporate partners, and at UN Women National Committees globally.
Verity holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Sydney (1994), post-graduate qualifications in Marketing and Management from Macquarie Business School (2001) and is a member and graduate (2015) of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
