Sarah Anderson
Professor and Director
Institute of Safety Compensation and Recovery Research, Monash University
Professor Sarah Anderson is a senior leader in health, disability, and workforce policy, currently serving as Director of the Institute for Safety, Compensation and Recovery Research (ISCRR) and Professor of Workplace Health, Safety and Wellbeing at Monash University. In this role, she leads ISCRR’s strategic vision and research agenda, driving initiatives that improve workplace health and safety outcomes and fostering partnerships across academia, government, and industry.
Prior to joining ISCRR, Sarah was Director of Policy and Research at HumanAbility, where she managed policy, research, and workforce planning functions across health, disability, early childhood education, aged care, and sport. She worked closely with government and industry stakeholders to deliver evidence-based workforce solutions and led the development of strategic workforce plans and sector-wide reform initiatives. Sarah spent more than 15 years at La Trobe University in senior academic and leadership roles, including Director of Partnerships and Head of Prosthetics and Orthotics. There, she contributed to curriculum innovation, international partnerships, and the advancement of workforce standards in allied health.
Sarah holds a PhD in Ergonomics and Human Factors, a Master of Public Health, and a Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics, complemented by executive education in artificial intelligence and company directorship. She is a Churchill Fellow and Williamson Community Leadership Fellow, and currently serves as a board director with the Workplace Injury Commission, Scope Australia, and Disability Sport and Recreation. Widely published, with more than 25 peer-reviewed publications and significant contributions to regulatory and workforce research, Sarah is known for her strategic vision, collaborative leadership, and commitment to advancing inclusive, evidence-based policy and practice in complex environments.
