Ruby Anandajayasekeram

Global Diversity Equity & Inclusion Advisor

Shell

Ruby (she/her) pivoted her career to pursue her passion and purpose – contributing to more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces and society – after a 20+ years rewarding global corporate legal career where DE&I featured prominently as her side-gig.

As Global DE&I Advisor for a global energy company with 80,000+ employees in 70+ countries, she partners with senior leaders and a diverse range of cross-functional and business teams as well as employee resource groups to design and deliver strategic global DE&I projects, processes and policies.

She has actively championed DE&I throughout her career - from chairing Shell’s first Advisory Board to the Global Council of Race to contributing to Norah Breekveldt’s book “Me and My Mentor: How Mentoring Supercharged the Careers of 11 Extraordinary Women” and currently serves on the D&I Advisory Panel to the Australian HR Institute.

She is a strong advocate of mentoring and sponsorship as key levers to level the playing field for everyone. Through these invaluable experiences, leaders are exposed to diverse perspectives that help broaden their thinking and maximise their leadership impact, whilst also inspiring leaders to act to remove barriers in their spheres of influence. From her own experiences, she strongly believes that a small investment of time from a mentor can be life changing for a mentee.
