Lorraine Pitman
Development Manager
The Embrace Collective
Lorraine is a highly experienced and values-driven leader, deeply committed to social justice and community development. She founded Type 1 Voice in 2006, an independent advocacy organisation representing individuals and families living with type 1 diabetes and has recently led the amalgamation with Australia’s Type 1 Foundation to expand support nationally.
Over the last two decades Lorraine has consistently held non-executive roles across health, and disability sectors and has led numerous advocacy initiatives with State and Federal Government, achieving significant outcomes. These initiatives have seen the creation of a Health Supported Workplace policy, expansion of Carers Payment, and securing funding to access lifesaving & sustaining medical devices.
As both an Executive and Non-Executive Board member, Lorraine brings professional and personal experience to conceptualise solutions to complex social issues. The outcomes that have been achieved are attributed to her innovative approach and strategic connections to community, corporate and government, with the ability to translate purpose to all stakeholders.
