Jann worked as a lawyer in private practice in Newcastle and Sydney for 3 decades, ultimately as a full equity partner at Sparke Helmore where she managed the large Newcastle office. Since ceasing full time work as a lawyer, Jann established a career as a non executive director operating mainly in the financial services, health and education sectors.

Utilising her governance and legal skills, in a voluntary capacity, Jann has been a member of committees covering the university and local government sectors, a Medical Research Institute and community based organisations.

Jann has also devoted time to mentoring young women to support their career development.
