Ilea has been a company director for over 16 years. She is an ACT Councillor for the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), Deputy Chair of Northside Community Service and on the board of Regional Development Australia ACT. She has been Managing Director and owner of Ninetwofive Interiors since 2003 and was awarded Telstra ACT Young Business Women of the Year in 2004. Ilea is a mentor for the Mill House Social Enterprise Accelerator program, which helps new Canberra businesses whose purpose is to make a positive environmental and social impact. She is also working on her own social enterprise – Evalue8 Sustainability, which builds on a previous business she started – Ninetwofive Sustainability, to help businesses reduce their environmental footprint.

Her passion and experience saw her lead the social media arm of the Teach Us Consent campaign, pulling mandatory consent education for Australian students over the line in March 2022.
