A passionate Cantabrian Amy Carter is a powerhouse in New Zealand’s civic, commercial and philanthropic sectors, combining strategic communication expertise with a deep commitment to community impact. With over 25 years of experience in public relations and stakeholder engagement, she has shaped narratives, built trust, and led transformative initiatives across infrastructure, environmental, and charitable domains.

Before founding The Christchurch Foundation in 2017, Amy built a formidable career in public relations, specialising in strategic communications for complex, multi-year projects, crisis management, and brand building through storytelling and meaningful engagement. Earlier in her career, she held fundraising and communications roles with several of New Zealand’s most iconic charities.

She played a leading role in the Christchurch Earthquakes communications both emergency and recovery phases with both commercial and crown clients.

Amy has served on the board of the Canterbury Employers’ Chamber of Commerce and held governance roles with Surf Life Saving New Zealand, the Banks Peninsula Conservation Trust, and numerous other charities. Her career reflects a rare blend of strategic acumen, empathetic leadership, and unwavering dedication to the people and places of Aotearoa New Zealand.
