Amelia Higgs is a Principal Lawyer specialising in family and relationships law. Amelia is committed to achieving out-of-court resolutions through mediation and collaborative practices, while maintaining extensive experience in appearing before the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Amelia is dedicated to helping clients find solutions that are practical, realistic, and tailored to individual circumstances. She embraces alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and collaboration, and is recognised for delivering clear communication, holistic support, and timely, strategic advice.
Amelia is routinely appointed by the Court as an Independent Children’s Lawyer, representing young people in contested parenting matters. She currently serves as President of the Law Society of Tasmania and has been a member of its Council since 2021. In addition, Amelia sits on the board of Dress for Success Tasmania, coordinates family law training at the Centre for Legal Studies, and proudly acts as a community ambassador for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.
