With over 30 years of experience in Human Resources & Development, Millicent is currently the Regional Head of Human Resources - Africa and Middle East (AME) for Standard Chartered Bank, where she is responsible for the overall strategic people agenda.

Before joining Standard Chartered in 2013, she worked in senior HR positions at Barclays/Absa based in South Africa. She also worked for the leading shipping firm Maersk for 12 years in various positions, her last role being Organizational Development Executive for Africa, with a presence in 45 countries.

She spent her earlier career lecturing in Business Management at tertiary institutions in Ghana and South Africa. She holds a Masters in Business Leadership (MBL) from the University of South Africa, a BA Honours Degree, and a Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana. She has participated in various leadership programmes in South Africa, as well as at INSEAD (France) IMD (Switzerland), and SAID Business School (Oxford).

She was an Independent Non-Executive Director of Maersk South Africa from 2013 to 2022 and was appointed to the Standard Chartered Bank Zimbabwe Board in August 2016 as a Non-Executive Director, as well as a member of the Board Risk Committee.

She is one of three shareholders of Legacy Girls College which is the first private boarding girls’ high school in Ghana. This was founded in 2015 with 4 students and now boasts almost 600 students. She desires to contribute to the education of girls with the aim that any girl who walks the corridors of the school will be better than they entered.

She passionately champions the strategic people agenda by understanding the business environment which allows her to contribute fully to the executive leadership team to support the business agenda. An advocate of diversity and inclusion, she made the 2022 Top 100 Executive “INvolvepeople” and Yahoo Finance Global Empower Role Model list. She is a member of the International Coaching Federation and is a coach, mentor, and sponsor of talent groups and individuals helping to build capability and fast-track their growth.

She likes to engage in sessions and write articles where experiences, thoughts, and opinions are shared to create a workplace where different perspectives are valued and embraced. She is also often invited as a guest speaker to encourage dialogue that raises awareness on topical issues.
