Michelle Garnaut is an Australian restaurateur and chef best known for her series of award-winning upscale restaurants in China: M at the Fringe, M on the Bund, Capital M, and the Glamour Bar. Each became an icon in its city, with the unique M combination of modern European cooking, stylish yet comfortable decor and real sense of place. Michelle is also a founder of the Shanghai International Literary Festival and the Capital Literary Festival Beijing. M Restaurants have become a hub for cultural events and entertainment, including the annual Shanghai and Capital Literary Festivals, a regular chamber music series in both cities, the Shanghai Chamber Music Competition, a monthly series of talks in both cities and late night entertainment in the Glamour Bar
