Benita Husband is CEO of pitt&sherry, a specialist engineering and environmental consultancy. pitt&sherry have 8 offices in Australia providing technical advice for projects ranging from roads & bridges to manufacturing, mining and theme parks. Pitt&sherry is a proud Australian company employing 300 people & offering scholarships through University of Tasmania to Engineering students.
Benita has 20 years’ experience in the construction and engineering sector as an electrical engineer, project director and technical advisor to clients. Benita is recognised for her engaging leadership style, client focused outcomes, and guidance on aligning strategy with commercial success. She is a registered building practitioner, EngExec and Fellow of Engineers Australia. She’s also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an alumnus of Melbourne Business School Executive MBA.
She’s been involved in the industry & promoting engineering throughout her 20-year career. Benita’s been involved in encouraging more women to participate in engineering since she was a student of engineering herself. She continues to champion diversity in the construction industry and has been recognized with 2 awards from the National Association of Women in Construction, featured in Engineers Australia’s national publication ‘Inspiring stories of female engineers’ and most recently was featured in the 2017 international ‘#CelebratingWomen’ campaign.
Some notable projects she’s completed have included the MCG Northern Stand, King Hamad General Hospital in Bahrain, and the new Australian Embassy in Jakarta.
